What is a b ultrasound liver cyst?

Ultrasound findings of hepatic cysts are a very common benign tumor. Most liver cysts appear as round or oval echogenic areas in the liver with a thin, uniform, hyperechoic cyst wall, a smooth inner wall, and posterior echogenic enhancement of the cyst, or in some cases, only the anterior and posterior walls of the cyst are echogenic on the sonogram. Most cysts are congenital and result from impaired embryonic development of the intrahepatic bile ducts, and a small percentage are caused by degenerative changes of the organ or by trauma. If the cyst is relatively small and the patient does not have any symptoms, only regular ultrasound review is needed; if the cyst is located on the surface of the liver, more than 5 cm or the patient has a feeling of fullness or vague pain, ultrasound-guided intervention can be done; if the cyst is combined with bleeding and infection, surgery can be considered.
