Epinephrine is one of the more widely used drugs and is not usually used alone in the eye. Instead, a small amount of epinephrine is often added to lidocaine injection when performing local anesthetic surgery in the eye, which can achieve the effect of reducing bleeding and is a common drug for long-term ophthalmic surgery. While epinephrine as an eye drop has some pupil dilating effect, it is prohibited in patients with closed-angle glaucoma. As this can exacerbate the pupil dilating effect and lead to more severe reactions.
