The change in the patient’s myopia after dilating the pupils is mainly due to the patient’s ciliary muscle paralysis.
When the patient’s eyes look at objects at a close distance, the ciliary muscle will contract to adjust the focus, and the ciliary muscle can spasm for too long, resulting in blurred vision when looking at a distance and the formation of pseudomyopia, leading to an increase in the patient’s myopia. Dilating the pupils can relax the ciliary muscle and eliminate the pseudomyopia caused by the spasm of the ciliary muscle, so after dilating the pupils, the patient’s myopia can decrease.
We usually need to pay more attention to rest, do not look at the computer and cell phone for a long time, more look at the distance to come, relax the eyes, otherwise it can lead to myopia progression.
It is recommended that myopic patients seek timely medical attention to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
