Restless leg syndrome definition and treatment

The patient has to keep moving the leg muscles or get up and walk to relieve this feeling, thus affecting sleep. The cause of this syndrome is unclear in most cases, some cases are secondary to motor nerve disease or poor local blood circulation, sleep deprivation, anxiety, and old age may aggravate the attack, and the symptoms of restless legs may disappear temporarily when fever is present.  This syndrome needs to be differentiated from painful calf spasms, which are predominantly painful sensations accompanied by tonic spasms of the calf muscles. In the treatment, it is recommended to use physical exercise during the day and muscle relaxation exercise at night, and symptomatic treatment with medication.  Medications can be given: 1, small doses of carbamazepine; 2, appropriate supplementation of folic acid and B vitamins; 3, anxiolytic treatment to relieve anxiety; 4, improve sleep.
