Why does a meniscus injury cause pain in the back of the tendon?

The cause of hamstring pain behind a meniscus injury may be due to the damage to the posterior horn of the meniscus pulling on the surrounding tissues leading to hamstring pain in the back. A meniscus injury is an injury to the integrity and continuity of the meniscus in the knee joint due to external forces. The meniscus is a cartilage cushion between the tibia and the femur. The meniscus serves as a stabilizing structure for the knee joint and has a cushioning effect on the knee joint. When the meniscus is damaged, there will be instability of the knee joint, and when rotating and squeezing, it will cause pain. As meniscus injury is often the posterior horn of the meniscus, after meniscus injury, it will pull the surrounding synovial tissues when rotating, so the patients will have the manifestation of tendon pain behind the knee joint. There may be other causes for tendon pain behind meniscus injury, such as tendon inflammation, which should be consulted early for a clear diagnosis and targeted treatment.
