Sudden onset of painless hematuria with the naked eye throughout is the most common first symptom of bladder cancer. The hematuria is intermittent and often disappears suddenly, which does not receive attention from the patient and no further examination is performed, which becomes an important reason why bladder cancer is not diagnosed early.
Therefore, for middle-aged and elderly people, especially men, the occurrence of painless hematuria should alert bladder cancer. For patients with recurrent urinary tract infections (frequent, urgent and painful urination), the possibility of bladder cancer should also be excluded.
