Reasons for recommending immunohistochemistry for cervical biopsy

Immunohistochemistry is needed after cervical biopsy to determine the chance of precancerous lesions and the presence of other HPV infections. Immunohistochemistry is used to determine the nature of the lesion by the reaction of antigen and antibody, and also to determine the stage of the lesion after cervical biopsy, which is very important for future guidance. When staging is performed, if it is low grade indicating benign, antiviral therapy can be performed with vaginal plug therapy. If immunohistochemistry indicates high grade, cervical conization is recommended to determine if the cervical margin is negative or positive, and depending on the situation, the next step of treatment is decided. When the cervical biopsy report suggests immunohistochemistry, specific tests should be performed.
