Chronic kidney disease prevention comes first

Even ordinary people know a little, and even those who have never been to school will joke, “You are not a kidney deficiency, right!” . Of course, kidney deficiency is not the same as having kidney disease. But are your kidneys healthy? How much do you really know about your kidneys? Kidney is an important organ in the human body, like a cleaner, can eliminate a lot of waste and toxins to purify the blood, and plays an important role in blood pressure regulation, hematopoietic function and bone growth. Chronic kidney disease is often not “felt” when it starts, there are no uncomfortable symptoms, and it is often overlooked, but it is far more harmful than we can imagine: about 1 in 10 adults will have some form of kidney damage of varying degrees due to various factors, and people with chronic kidney disease have a higher risk of dying from heart disease and stroke. People with chronic kidney disease are 20 times more likely to die from heart disease and stroke than healthy people! And with the development of the disease, the kidney function will gradually decline, the excretion of toxins will be less and less, at an advanced stage will be transformed into uremia, so we call chronic kidney disease is the “invisible killer”. In developed countries, the prevalence of chronic kidney disease in the general population is 6.5% to 16%, and the number of chronic kidney disease in the United States has exceeded 20 million. In China, the prevalence of chronic kidney disease in the general population is also close to 10%, and the number of people over 40 years old is as high as 18.7%, which can also be presumed that the number of chronic kidney disease in China may exceed 100 million, chronic kidney disease will be the main disease affecting the health of the Chinese people in the future. According to incomplete statistics, the annual cost of dialysis in Beijing and Shanghai alone is 400 million RMB, which brings a huge economic burden and heavy social pressure to individuals and families. For this reason, the International Society of Nephrology (ISN?) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundation (IFKF) have jointly initiated to designate the second Thursday of March as “World Kidney Day”, hoping to draw attention to kidney disease. Fortunately, although kidney disease is scary, if detected early, we can slow down or even stop the progression of chronic kidney disease by taking medications and changing certain lifestyle habits. And modern medicine is fully capable of detecting chronic kidney disease early through simple testing techniques, such as regular tests of our urine, blood and blood pressure, which can show early signs of most kidney problems. However, so far, the awareness and prevention of chronic kidney disease among the general population worldwide is still far from adequate. As nephrologists, we want to raise our voice to the public: Chronic kidney disease is all around you! Please pay attention to your kidneys! How to prevent and warn about kidney disease? We suggest the following points. 1, first: the combination of work and rest “labor is hurt qi”, “long lying down hurts qi”, whether it is overwork or excessive rest will damage the body’s positive qi, resulting in a lack of positive qi, resistance to decline, easy to feel the external evil and the onset of disease, as the saying goes “In addition, the body’s metabolites increase after exertion, which will increase the burden on the kidneys and aggravate kidney damage, so we should pay attention to the combination of work and rest. 2, prevention of infection Most chronic kidney disease can be triggered or aggravated by infection. According to the upper and lower parts, common infections in life can be summarized as follows: 1. upper: respiratory tract infections, mostly induced by the decline of the body’s immune function after a cold, usually pay attention to keep warm and prevent colds; 2. middle: gastrointestinal tract infections, mostly caused by irregular diet or mistakenly eat unclean food, to clean and regular diet; 3. lower: urinary tract infections, mostly caused by urinary reflux, usually drink more water, diligent urination, and pay attention to the room. The lower part: urinary tract infection, mostly caused by urinary reflux, usually drink more water, urinate regularly, and pay attention to the hygiene of intercourse. 3, reasonable diet It is advisable to eat light and easily digestible food, avoid seafood, beef, mutton, spicy and stimulating food and alcohol. These substances have a high content of xenobiotics and often induce or aggravate kidney damage due to the patient’s constitution. Patients with edema and hypertension should limit the intake of water and salt. Patients with low urine volume should avoid foods with high potassium, such as bananas, oranges, potatoes, tomatoes, pumpkins, tea, etc., because potassium is mainly excreted in the body through urine, and patients with low urine volume are prone to hyperkalemia; nutritional products and health supplements on the market should be carefully chosen, and it is best to listen to the opinions of specialists. It is not a “one size fits all” approach. In short, the diet should be clean and hygienic, meat and vegetables, nutritious and diverse. The development of many kidney diseases is slow and insidious, early treatment can play a very good effect, especially if there are some reversible factors, such as severe diarrhea caused by insufficient blood volume, severe hypertension, severe infection and urinary tract obstruction, etc., at this time to eliminate reversible factors, kidney damage can often be alleviated. 5, careful use of nephrotoxic drugs The kidney is an important organ for drug metabolism and excretion in the body, and the concentration of water-soluble drugs in the urine can reach 100 times the blood concentration, which can easily cause kidney damage. Therefore, we should be cautious when using drugs, especially those with nephrotoxic side effects in the instructions, and consult a nephrologist when necessary. In conclusion, kidney disease is insidious, with high incidence, often combined with other diseases, and the late efficacy is poor, we need to draw attention to, from around the little bit to do, to prevent the problem before it happens.
