9-month-old baby girl’s belly as big as a drum, doctors cut off 3 pounds of tumors

On November 7, the hepatobiliary surgery team of Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital successfully performed surgery on Xiao Ya, and the tumor cut off weighed 3 pounds. The tumor that was cut off weighed 3 pounds. The tumor was 3 pounds. After an ultrasound examination, she was told that she had a tumor in her stomach. The young parents immediately took Xiao Ya from Xiangtan to Changsha and consulted several tertiary hospitals in the provincial capital, where the examination results showed “occupying lesion in the right liver: hepatoblastoma”. ” The couple gave up on treatment several times, and in desperation, they cut up Xiao Ya’s CT films and went home ready to “resign themselves to fate”, and in the process of Xiao Ya’s medical treatment, they met a 1-year-old girl named Xi Xi, who was diagnosed with “hepatoblastoma”. Not long ago, Xixi was successfully operated in Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital, and the pathology section after the operation confirmed that the tumor Xixi suffered from was “hepatoblastoma”, a kind of junctional tumor. Hearing this good news, the couple flew to Changsha again with Xiao Ya on October 31 and found Director Peng Chuang, who operated on Xi Xi before. Due to the huge tumor affecting her breathing and the cold, Xiao Ya was suffering from a serious lung infection. After the initial evaluation and consultation with Director He Xiangling of the Department of Pediatrics, it was decided that she would be admitted to the hospital immediately, first to the Department of Pediatrics for infection control and preoperative preparation, and then to the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery for surgical treatment after the infection was controlled. The tumor cut down weighed 3 pounds, and the operation bleeding was less than 10 ml. At the time of admission, Xiaoya’s tumor was 22CM*15CM, and the huge abdomen made this 9-month-old child look like carrying a basketball. The tumor, which occupied 4/5 of the abdominal cavity, severely compressed Xiao Ya’s stomach and intestines, crowding the abdominal cavity and affecting the child’s feeding; the chest cavity was squeezed to only 1/3 of normal size, the lungs could not expand, the diaphragm could not move normally, the child’s breathing was restricted and caused lung infection. The tumor pushes the right kidney to the front of the left kidney, and has seriously affected Xiao Ya’s feeding and breathing, and there is always the possibility of tumor necrosis, rupture and bleeding. He Xiangling, the director of pediatric hematology and oncology department, and Peng Chuang, the director of hepatobiliary surgery department, discussed the condition for many times and thought that “the tumor is large and growing rapidly at a young age, although it is extremely difficult, it still has a chance to live, so we should try to do the surgery early”. After perfecting the preoperative preparation, Xiao Ya was transferred to the seventh ward of hepatobiliary surgery on November 6. On November 7, under the guidance of Professor Wu Jinjue, a famous hepatobiliary surgery expert in China and chief expert of Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital, Xiao Ya was sent to the operating room. With the strong support and close cooperation from the director of the hospital’s anesthesia department, Kong Gao Yin, and the head nurse of the operating room, Jiang Xia, this super difficult surgery, was finally completed successfully. According to Professor Wu Jinzhu, Xiao Ya weighs 8 kilograms and her whole body blood is about 560 milliliters. Once the bleeding reaches 1/10th of 50 milliliters, “hemorrhagic shock” can be triggered, while the liver is the “blood bank” of the human body and is rich in blood. “This surgery is a great challenge for doctors and requires great skill.” After more than two hours of surgery, a 1.54 kg tumor was successfully removed with less than 10 ml of bleeding. The incidence of the disease is two in a million, and experts urge not to give up treatment easily. Seeing their child getting healthier and lovelier every day, the couple felt like they were regaining their treasures, “It feels like a dream!” Professor Peng introduced the incidence of hepatoblastoma is only about two in a million. The most common symptom of a child with hepatoblastoma is a bulging abdomen, which often goes undetected in the early stages because infants can’t speak and express themselves. Experts remind that parents should pay more attention to their children’s physical changes and observe the shape and hardness of their children’s abdomen when bathing and dressing them, and bring them to the doctor in time to avoid delaying treatment once they find a lump or abnormal crying. At the same time, Professor Peng pointed out that although hepatoblastoma is a malignant tumor, if the tumor only invades a single liver lobe or segment, the effect of surgical treatment is still very good. Therefore, even if you are suffering from this disease, you should not give up the treatment easily, but should go to a regular and experienced specialist for treatment.
