Precautions for enteral nutrition

       Nutritional support, including parenteral and enteral nutrition, has become an important part of the treatment of critically ill children, and the risks of nutritional support are of increasing concern. Complications of nutritional support include mechanical injury associated with nutritional support access, catheter-associated bloodstream infections, enteral nutrition intolerance, and metabolic complications. Most of these complications can be prevented; assessing and controlling risk factors is the most effective method of prevention, and preventing and treating complications is key to ensuring successful nutritional support and improving the prognosis of the child. The following is a brief description of the complications of enteral nutrition and how to prevent them.
