Granuloma is a well-defined nodular lesion formed by limited infiltration and proliferation of macrophages and their evolved cells, which is essentially an inflammatory disease caused by a delayed hypersensitivity reaction. Granulomas are also tissue proliferations resulting from infections due to various causes. The disease is caused by many factors, such as fungal infections, bacterial infections, parasitic infections, and syphilis infections. The main manifestation of the disease is localized reddish granulation tissue hyperplasia, which may have mild pressure pain and sometimes redness and swelling, usually without obvious rupture and exudation. After removing the cause, the granuloma can gradually subside on its own. However, if the swelling grows larger and larger, it needs to be surgically removed and sent for pathological examination to clarify its nature. In most cases, granulomas are not malignant, so do not worry too much.
