Beware of facial paralysis in winter

After the beginning of winter, the number of patients with facial paralysis who come to the outpatient clinic every day increases significantly. Combined with clinical diagnosis, it is recommended that when the weather becomes cold, it is necessary to prevent the wind and cold from invading the face and causing facial neuritis, i.e. facial paralysis. When the weather gets cold, if the wind blows directly on the face for a long time, it will cause the facial meridians and qi and blood tissues to be blocked, and the facial nerve will be paralyzed due to ischemia. The facial expression muscles innervated by the facial nerve will become dysfunctional due to insufficient nutrition, resulting in facial paralysis. Clinical manifestations of facial paralysis include inability to close the eyes, flaccidity on one side of the face, crooked mouth, drooling, tearing of eyes, inability to raise eyebrows, and pain behind the ears. Facial paralysis is a condition that does not discriminate between men and women or age, and is most likely to occur in winter. Facial paralysis should be detected and treated early. Acupuncture is more effective in treating facial paralysis. Facial paralysis generally goes through four stages from the appearance of symptoms to cure, a total of one month, the first week for the facial nerve paralysis period, the condition has developed; the second week of the condition is more stable; the third week of the facial nerve began to revive; the fourth week of the facial nerve gradually return to normal. After treatment, 70% of facial paralysis patients can be cured. If the treatment is not timely, facial nerve recovery is not complete, there will be facial paralysis, such as facial muscle atrophy, half of the face hair face tilted to the side of the disease and so on. In order to prevent facial paralysis, the first should pay attention to keep out of the door as much as possible to wear a mask; the second driving or sitting in the car, it is best not to roll down the window; third, fatigue when or after the bath, can not be subjected to wind.
