Facial paralysis, commonly known as “tilted mouth and eyes”. It is mainly characterized by incomplete eyelid closure, crooked mouth, sometimes accompanied by tears and drooling, and food is often retained in the gap between the teeth and cheeks on the sick side during meals. There are two types of facial paralysis: peripheral and central. This article mainly discusses the methods and effects of warm acupuncture and tuina in treating peripheral facial paralysis. Treatment Acupuncture Points: The acupoints are mainly on the affected side. Main points: Yangbai, Sun, Zygomatic Calvary, Dicang, Cheek Che, Xiaguan, Cataract, Hegu (bilateral). Supporting points: incomplete eye closure plus save bamboo, head Wei; nasolabial folds become shallow plus Yingxiang; more pronounced crooked corner of the mouth plus Renzhong, Chengjian; long duration of the disease plus Baihui. The above points are selected in turn, each time 7~8 points. Method of operation: After local disinfection of the acupuncture points, choose 28~30 1.5 inch millimetre needles to enter the needle quickly. When the patient produces a feeling of soreness and distension, give the moxa stick (about 3.5 cm) lit into the needle handle (in order to avoid scalding the patient, can be used to cut and sew cardboard shells clamped below the needle handle), warm moxibustion to the sun, zygomatic Calvary, cheek car, the next pass, cataract wind and other acupuncture points, leaving the needle for 3O minutes. After the needles were discharged, the face was massaged by manipulation, with the affected side as the primary and the healthy side as the secondary treatment. In supine position, massage and kneading of facial acupoints were emphasized, together with one-finger meditation in sitting position to push Fengchi and the neck, and finally Fengchi and Hegu were taken to end the treatment. The above treatments were carried out once a day, with 1O days as 1 course of treatment, and 2 days of rest between the two courses of treatment. Criteria for judging the efficacy of treatment: cured: symptoms of facial paralysis disappeared, facial expression muscle movement function completely restored to normal; obvious effect: symptoms basically disappeared, the appearance is generally normal, a little crooked mouth when laughing and joking; improved: symptoms reduced, facial expression muscle movement improved compared with the previous. According to Chinese medicine, facial paralysis is caused by excessive fatigue of the human body, emptiness of the veins and channels, insufficient qi and blood, and wind and evil enter the body, thus affecting the operation of qi and blood in the face, and the meridians and channels are out of harmony, resulting in crookedness of the mouth and eyes. Acupuncture and moxibustion has the effect of dredging the meridians, dispelling wind and dispersing cold, harmonizing qi and blood, etc., which can unclog the qi and blood, so that the symptoms can be eliminated quickly and health can be restored. Warm acupuncture and moxibustion has the effect of warming the meridians and channels, while strengthening the effect of needling, and should be used early. The shorter the duration of the disease, the more timely the treatment, the better the efficacy. Early acupuncture, massage techniques should be light, shallow, the longer the course of the massage technique can be slightly heavier; the therapeutic effect is not significant can be appropriate to extend the treatment interval. Try to avoid direct wind, wash your face with warm water and gargle during the period of illness, and also apply hot compresses to the side of the face. When the expression muscles on the side of the face show signs of voluntary movement, you should do more training such as closing the eyes, chewing, and contracting the corners of the mouth. The use of warm acupuncture with massage for treatment, the efficacy of reliable, can be referred to.
