The phenomenon of tongue astringency and numbness may be due to physiological reasons, or it may be caused by pathological reasons, such as burning mouth syndrome, oral tumors and so on.
1. Physiological reasons: due to the body intake of astringent food or accidentally biting the pepper and other items, the tongue may appear astringency, numbness, which is a normal physiological phenomenon.
2. Pathologic causes:
(1) burning mouth syndrome: it refers to a group of symptoms occurring in the oral mucosa, with burning pain as the main manifestation, which may originate from the damage of the central nerve and/or peripheral nerve, and the patients with this disease may also have astringency and numbness of the tongue.
(2) Oral tumor: If the body suffers from oral tumor and involves the lingual nerve, lingual pharyngeal nerve, etc., the phenomenon of tongue astringency and numbness may occur.
