The most dangerous days of pediatric laryngitis

Pediatric laryngitis is more dangerous when the mucous membrane of the larynx is congested and edematous for 1-3 days after the onset of laryngitis, which can easily cause asphyxia. Pediatric laryngitis is mainly caused by bacterial infections and is most common in children aged 6 months to 3 years, with clinical manifestations such as hoarseness, barking cough and difficulty in breathing. After active anti-inflammatory treatment and timely application of adequate antibiotics, glucocorticoids and other drugs to control the infection, the symptoms can be gradually reduced. However, if not treated in time, it may cause severe edema of the larynx within 1-3 days, and even evolve into laryngeal obstruction, threatening the life of the child. Therefore, the child’s breathing needs to be closely observed during treatment, and if it cannot be relieved with medication, the trachea needs to be cut immediately to relieve breathing difficulties. In daily life, the child should pay attention to physical exercise, enhance immunity, avoid spicy and stimulating food, and go to the hospital emergency room or ENT department immediately in case of discomfort.
