Pediatric plastic surgery is the discipline of plastic correction of congenital pediatric body surface deformities. Compared to adult plastic surgery, the procedure is more delicate and requires a higher level of doctorship. Common congenital malformations of the pediatric body surface include: congenital malformations of the ear, such as concealed ear, beckoning ear, small ear malformation and other congenital underdevelopment or absence of the auricle; cleft lip and palate; congenital malformations of the eye, such as congenital ptosis and microphthalmia; congenital malformations of the limbs, such as multiple fingers (toes), parallel fingers (toes), split hands, giant toes; and different degrees of craniofacial cleft, etc. The fine excision of benign lumps on the pediatric body surface and the laser treatment of various “birthmarks” also belong to the scope of pediatric plastic surgery.
