There are “black birthmarks” and “red birthmarks” in folklore, so let’s make a simple classification according to this statement. “Black birthmark” is a dark birthmark, common ones are coffee milk spot, nevus of Ota, Mongolian spot, pigmented nevus, black hair nevus. Coffee milk spots and nevus of Ota have good effect through laser treatment; Mongolian spots are usually black spots in the hip and waist area, which will gradually fade with age and generally do not need treatment; small pigmented nevi are not fast growing and can be left untreated or removed by laser when they grow up, while large pigmented nevi and nevus of black hair need to be removed surgically. “Red birthmark” generally refers to hemangioma, and the common ones are infantile hemangioma (partly bright red, also called strawberry hemangioma) and nevus. Superficial infantile hemangiomas and nevi can be improved or faded with laser treatment. Larger or more deeply located hemangiomas require a combination of other treatments.
