What are the adverse effects of dialysis for kidney disease

Adverse effects of dialysis for kidney disease usually include first dialysis syndrome, blood pressure abnormality, fever, imbalance syndrome and so on.
1. First dialysis syndrome: patients may be allergic to disinfectants, dialysis membranes, dialysis tubes and other items, and develop symptoms such as itchy skin and respiratory difficulties.
2. Abnormal blood pressure: In the process of dialysis, due to the large and rapid reduction of blood volume, poor vascular function and poor contraction, hypotension may occur, and in severe cases, hypotension and syncope may occur.
3. Fever: caused by disinfectant, pyrogen, infection, etc. A large amount of fluid will be replaced into the body during dialysis. The fluid may contain feverish substances, such as insoluble particles. Or without strict aseptic operation, microorganisms enter the body, which may induce an inflammatory response and lead to fever.
4. Imbalance syndrome: patients with chronic renal failure have more toxins in their bodies, and the toxins will be discharged out of the body during dialysis, and the toxins in the patients’ bodies will be reduced rapidly. However, due to the existence of blood-brain barrier, the removal of toxins in the brain is relatively slow, resulting in a continuous increase of brain toxins, which may cause nausea, vomiting, headache, agitation and other symptoms.
If the patient has any symptoms of physical discomfort during the dialysis process, he/she should inform the medical staff in a timely manner so that the professional doctor can make judgment and treatment.
