Epilepsy is commonly known as “goat’s horn” and “jerking”. Professor Huang Xishun, chief physician of Zheng University Hospital, said, “Epilepsy is a chronic brain disease caused by different causes. It can be caused by genetics, traumatic brain injury, birth and prenatal injuries, poisoning, and hypoxia. Carbon monoxide poisoning, lead poisoning, and pesticide poisoning can also lead to epilepsy. Heavy alcohol consumption can also easily lead to epilepsy after alcohol poisoning.” Epilepsy patients are not allowed to drink alcohol. Drinking alcohol can induce seizures, and the main component of alcohol is ethanol, which has a direct inhibitory effect on higher neural activity. Although the drinker feels comfortable and pleasant, the brain’s ability to work is subsequently reduced. Seizures are caused by a “stagnant foci of pathological excitation” in the cerebral cortex. This “stagnant foci of pathological excitation” are excited and spread to the surrounding area, causing motor excitement, which is manifested as a limb or even a generalized convulsion. The experts also suggest that a small amount of beer every day can promote blood circulation, but excessive drinking can cause harm to the body.
