What is osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a systemic metabolic bone disease characterized by a decrease in bone mass and destruction of bone microstructure, leading to a decrease in bone strength, an increase in bone fragility, and consequently a tendency to fracture. Osteoporosis can be categorized into primary osteoporosis and secondary osteoporosis. Primary osteoporosis can be divided into senile osteoporosis and postmenopausal osteoporosis. Secondary osteoporosis refers to osteoporosis caused by other diseases or medications. Age-related osteoporosis tends to occur in people over 60 years of age.
