In the activity site, a young woman in her early 30s sat among a group of yim-yim-yim who stood out. She had a 3-year-old daughter who had undergone IOL implantation by Dr. Ye Xiang recently due to congenital cataract. In order to acquire more care knowledge to take better care of her daughter, she read in the newspaper that Dr. Ye was going to give a lecture on cataract and signed up for the event. Dr. Ye introduced that congenital cataracts mostly occur in newborn infants and are partial or complete clouding of the crystal that occurs at birth. Since infants’ vision is developing, congenital cataracts can seriously affect the development of vision and are more harmful than age-related cataracts. If surgery is not performed as early as possible, severe amblyopia will result. Once the best time for surgery is missed, even if surgery is performed, it is difficult to restore vision. Most congenital cataracts can be operated within 4 to 5 months after birth, and no later than 2 years of age, and IOL implantation can be performed at 2 to 3 years of age. After surgery, follow-up treatment is required to prevent amblyopia from occurring.
