What to do about a large brain infarction

Large cerebral infarcts are mostly seen in the brain trunk vascular blockage, clinically more common is the infarction of the middle cerebral artery, because the infarct area is relatively large, the patient’s general state is poor, in serious cases, there will be consciousness disorders, so patients with large cerebral infarcts should keep the airway open, give oxygen and regulate blood pressure, avoid blood pressure dropping too low, also need to control blood pressure at 200mmHg or less. If the patient has heavy cerebral edema, intravenous drugs to lower intracranial pressure, such as mannitol, furosemide, glycerol fructose, and if necessary, white eggs, and antibiotics should be given if the patient has infection or fever. Patients with large cerebral infarction are prone to stress ulcers, and drugs to protect the gastric mucosa, such as pantoprazole, can be given. On the basis of maintaining the basic vital signs, the patient should be given antiplatelet aggregation, circulation improvement, oxygen radical scavenging, and brain-protective medication.
