Varicocele is the most common cause of male infertility, mainly due to poor blood return, causing an increase in scrotal temperature and local accumulation of toxins, which impairs the spermatogenic function of the testes and, in severe cases, testicular atrophy. Treatment of varicocele is mainly surgical, but interventional methods can also be used. The aim is to ligate the internal spermatic veins. The most commonly used procedure in Europe and the United States is microscopic spermatic vein ligation, which has the advantages of not being prone to recurrence, not damaging the testicular artery, not missing the vein and recovering the testicular function well after the procedure. At present, except for large central hospitals in China, especially primary hospitals mostly use high ligation, which has a high recurrence rate and the postoperative testicular function recovery is not as good as that of microscopic surgery. After I returned from my training at 301 Hospital, I have carried out microscopic spermatic vein ligation, which is the best choice for the treatment of this disease because of the small incision, more precise surgery and good efficacy.
