Diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in Chinese medicine

The name of pancreatic cancer in traditional Chinese medicine has been inconsistent because there is no diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in the history of Chinese medicine. In traditional Chinese medicine, there are manifestations similar to pancreatic cancer within the scope of several illnesses such as abdominal pain, jaundice, obstruction and accumulation. According to the etiology and pathogenesis, TCM generally classifies pancreatic cancer as a result of dietary disorders, disorders of the seven emotions, disorders of cold and temperature, or all kinds of internal injuries, and accordingly adopts treatments such as strengthening the spleen and stomach, clearing heat and dampness, moving qi and blood, softening hardness and dissipating nodules, and benefiting qi and nourishing blood according to the type of symptoms.
