Can mammary fibroids cause breast cancer?

The risk of breast cancer due to breast fibroids is extremely low. The cancer rate of breast fibroids is 0.12%-0.3%, which means that there are about 1000 patients with breast fibroids and 1-3 of them will eventually develop into breast cancer. This malignancy rate is not much higher than normal adult women, so there is no need to be too nervous, especially for simple breast fibroids, which are almost impossible to develop into breast cancer, but only for large compound fibroids with atypical hyperplasia or family history of breast cancer. If a breast fibroadenoma is found, the risk of malignant transformation may be increased to a certain extent, and it can be considered to go ahead and get rid of it. In addition, if the fibroadenoma is more than 2 cm in size and is increasing rapidly, causing local discomfort or affecting the appearance, it may be considered for treatment. Under normal circumstances, breast ultrasound is sufficient for breast fibroadenoma once every six months to a year, if there is no change in size within two years, there is no need to be too nervous.
