Where is the middle nasal passage?

The middle nasal passage is located in the inferior lateral aspect of the middle turbinate, and its complex anatomy makes it an important area for surgical access.
The lateral wall of the nasal cavity has three long bony segments arranged in a step-like fashion, called the superior, middle, and inferior turbinates, respectively. The lateral wall of the nasal cavity and the underside of each turbinate form a fissure-like space called the superior, middle, and inferior nasal passages, respectively.
The nasal passages, i.e., the inferior lateral aspect of the middle turbinate, have a complex anatomical structure. The openings of the former group of sinuses (i.e., maxillary sinus, frontal sinus, and the former group of sieve sinuses) are all in the middle nasal tract, and if the anatomy of the middle nasal tract is abnormal, it can affect the ventilation and drainage of the former group of sinuses and induce the occurrence of sinusitis. The middle nasal passage is also an important area for nasal endoscopic surgical access.
If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to seek medical attention and treatment in time.
