What to do about fever in acute leukemia

Acute leukemia fever is related to infection and/or hypermetabolism of tumor cells, and the treatment is mainly medication and physical cooling. 1.Infection: (1) Acute leukemia patients with temperature >38℃ should be carefully searched for infected lesions and pathogenic bacteria detection. Before the pathogenic bacteria are not clear, antibiotic treatment such as imipenem can be used empirically, and then targeted drugs can be used after the results of drug sensitivity test. (2) For those with fever and severe infection, high-dose gammaglobulin infusion should be given. 2. Tumor cell hypermetabolism: In the rapid development stage of acute leukemia, tissues will be necrotic due to ischemia and hypoxia, and necrosis factor or inflammatory mediators produced by tumor cells can lead to fever. Mild patients can use physical cooling such as alcohol wiping, etc. Moderate to severe patients can take non-steroidal drugs such as ibuprofen. Those with co-infections may take the above medications. If the above symptoms occur, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, and early under the guidance of the physician for formal treatment.
