Characteristics of basal cell adenoma

Basal cell adenoma is a benign tumor that occurs in the basal cells and is prevalent in male patients between the ages of 50 and 60. The disease develops slowly, some with a course of several years, and clinically presents as a painless mass, and the tumor is often well defined with no adhesion to the surrounding tissues. On imaging, it appears as a round or oval shaped mass and is easily confused with lymphoma. Treatment for basal cell tumors is based on surgical resection, which is often complete. In patients with basal cell tumors, malignancy is rare and the prognosis is generally favorable. However, pathologic examination is needed to confirm the diagnosis of basal cell tumor. With the improvement of technology nowadays, the detection rate of basal cell tumors has been improved.
