Bone Marrow Matching Requirements

Bone marrow matching is human leukocyte antigen matching, or HLA matching for short. The requirements for bone marrow matching are: if the patient has siblings, firstly, choose from the brother or younger brother to see if there is an HLA exact match. If the brother or younger brother does not have an HLA exact match, choose from the sister and younger sister, and if the sister or younger sister has the same HLA match, it can be applied. If there is no HLA compatible match among siblings, it is necessary to select from the unrelated population. Secondly, if there is also no HLA completely compatible match among the unrelated population, family members can be selected as HLA partially compatible or haplotypes for transplantation. Currently, haploidentical transplantation has achieved better therapeutic results in China, so the requirement of bone marrow paired is to try to select HLA fully compatible matches, and if there are no HLA and other fully compatible matches, partial compatible or haploidentical transplantation can be done.
