What’s wrong with blurry eyes on the computer screen?

Tears not only moisten and protect the cornea and conjunctival epithelium, but also form a tear film layer on the eye surface. The tear film-air interface is the first refractive surface of the visual pathway, and an unhealthy tear film can affect the quality of vision. When looking at a computer for a long time, the number of eye blinks will decrease, thus reducing the secretion of tears, while the evaporation of tears accelerates, leading to the occurrence of dry eyes and the appearance of transient blurred vision. Close prolonged eye use requires ciliary muscle regulation, which can form spasms over time, and blurred viewing of the computer screen. If persistent blurring is found, the possibility of eye disease, such as refractive error, cataract or fundus lesions, needs to be ruled out. If the blurring occurs only when looking at the computer, but the vision at a distance is normal, it may also be caused by presbyopia, and a consultation at the ophthalmology department of the local hospital is recommended.
