A nodular goiter with adenomatous nodules indicates that the patient has a thyroid nodule in which a thyroid adenoma has developed. In cases of thyroid nodules with adenoma formation, surgical treatment with a major thyroidectomy and intraoperative freezing is usually required to rule out the possibility of malignancy. The exact cause of thyroid nodules and thyroid adenomas is not clear. Since there are no drugs available to shrink or eliminate thyroid nodules or thyroid adenomas, the only way to cure patients with thyroid nodule formation or nodular goiter with thyroid adenoma is through surgical treatment.
