Arthroscopic meniscus post-operative rehabilitation program

  Knee rehabilitation program after meniscectomy:
1 to 2 days after surgery
①Move the patella: fix the patella with the thumb and index finger, push it up and down and left and right to reach the normal range as much as possible.
②Ankle pump exercise: do plantar flexion and dorsiflexion exercises, 30 strokes each time, 3 times a day, actively contracting and passively pulling the calf flexor muscles to promote blood circulation in the lower limbs.
Knee compression exercise: the posterior knee capsule is tensed with a garden pillow behind the ankle of the operated limb, and the knee joint is actively pressed down to pull the posterior joint capsule to prevent adhesion and contracture of the posterior joint capsule.
④Straight leg raising exercise: 3 times a day, 10-30 strokes each time, or more if the operated limb is asymptomatic, depending on individual conditions.
⑤Ice the affected knee on the first day after surgery for 3-5 days.
3 to 14 days after surgery
  ① Continue the above exercises.
② Knee flexion training: Patients should flex the hip and extend the knee in a lying position, and rely on the weight of the limb, supplemented by muscle contraction, to drive the knee joint to flexion, and repeat 15-30 times. Gradually increase the number of degrees of joint flexion. You can also sit on the edge of the bed with your lower leg hanging over the edge and do active knee extension and flexion exercises. Return to normal range of motion before discharge.
2 to 3 weeks after surgery
Continue the above exercises and increase the number of exercises to promote the recovery of muscle strength.
  3 weeks after surgery
Gradually bear weight on the affected limb and gradually resume daily life.
  Six months after surgery
  Gradually resume sports.
Knee rehabilitation plan after meniscus suture surgery.
① Knee brace immobilization within 3 weeks. Exercise methods are the same as the four methods used 1 to 2 days after meniscus suture surgery.
② Joint flexion and extension activities after 3 weeks, no more than 90 degrees of flexion for 4 weeks, and avoid weight-bearing activities for 6 weeks.
③ Resume sports after six months.
  Notes.
In the case of combined cartilage degeneration, functional exercise should be slowed down appropriately, and weight-bearing activities should be avoided for two months if intraoperative microfracture treatment is available.
