The survival time of patients with uremia varies greatly depending on the type and severity of the combined complications and the individual’s physical condition, and can range from a few months to decades. If a more severe uremic patient has a combination of multiple serious complications, such as hypertension, hyperkalemia, and severe metabolic acidosis that are difficult to control with medications, the patient may experience sudden death at any time. If there is no combination of various complications, such as diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease, many patients can have a life expectancy of more than 10 years or even 20 years with strict diet control, regular and adequate dialysis, and active treatment of various complications, such as renal hypertension, renal anemia, electrolyte disorders, and metabolic acidosis.
