If a patient develops fever or cough, the first step is to wear a mask, stay isolated from family members, and if necessary, go to the fever clinic at the nearest designated hospital as soon as possible.
After the patient arrives at the fever clinic, the doctor will focus on the patient’s information and ask if the patient has been to an area where the disease is endemic 2 weeks prior to the onset of the disease or if he or she has been in contact with similar cases. If the patient’s clinical presentation is consistent and there is a history of such exposure, he or she will be admitted to the hospital and treated in isolation.
Specimens such as throat swabs and sputum will also be collected and sent to the CDC for testing for novel coronavirus, and if the test is positive, the diagnosis will be confirmed.
