Is pain in the back of the head brain cancer?

  Pain in the back of the head may be brain cancer, but there are many causes of pain in the back of the head, and brain cancer is only one of the many possible factors, and relevant examinations should be conducted to determine the specific situation.  Patients with brain cancer may experience pain in the back of the head along with dizziness, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms. In addition, if the pain is persistent at the back of the head, it may be caused by cervical spondylosis, which is mainly due to spasm of neck muscles and contraction of scalp nerves and blood vessels, or it may be caused by intracranial organic lesions, such as posterior cranial fossa tumor. In the case of hypertensive patients, pain at the back of the head may also occur. If the pain is episodic, it may be neuralgia, mainly occipital neuralgia. Pain in the back of the head may also occur when there is mental tension and stress, and the discomfort will be relieved after relaxing and reducing stress.  When the pain at the back of the head occurs, patients should go to the neurology department of the hospital for consultation in time. If brain cancer is suspected, CT or MRI examination of the head should be completed as soon as possible to clarify the diagnosis.
