How to treat cysts in the fingers

Patients with cysts in the finger area can be treated conservatively if the cysts are not large by instructing the patient to rub and massage the cysts slowly and vigorously, and to apply local pressure bandages after the cysts are broken. Finger plates are also used for immobilization and to limit the movement of the interphalangeal joints to avoid external stimulation of the cyst and to prevent recurrence. If the patient has a large cyst in the finger, and it adheres to the local tendons, nerves, and blood vessels, and the patient has pain and interphalangeal joint movement, surgical treatment can be considered, and cyst removal surgery can be performed under local anesthesia to remove the cyst wall to avoid postoperative recurrence. Patients should also be told to reduce the activity of the interphalangeal joints and to keep warm.
