What exercises are suitable for cerebral infarction

Patients with cerebral infarction are generally suitable for aerobic exercises, including playing taijiquan and practicing taiji sword, but also walking and doing gymnastics, etc. They are generally not suitable for strenuous exercises. Cerebral infarction is a disorder of blood supply to the brain caused by various reasons, thus causing ischemic and hypoxic changes in the brain, which further leads to ischemic necrosis and softening of restricted brain tissue. Patients with cerebral infarction can present with a variety of different signs and symptoms depending on the site of onset and the size of the infarct focus, which can include hemiparesis, hemianesthesia, or speech dysfunction. Patients may also experience dizziness, nausea, vomiting, balance disorders and ataxia, and in severe cases, impaired consciousness may also occur. After aggressive and correct treatment, most patients may be clinically cured, while some patients may have some sequelae. If the patient has sequelae, rehabilitation is mainly given. If patients have no sequelae they should be properly exercised to enhance their physical fitness and prevent reinfarction. Secondary prevention therapy should be given for a long time, mainly oral aspirin for antiplatelet aggregation and oral statins, such as simvastatin, resevastatin and atorvastatin for lipid regulation and plaque stabilization. Aggressive control of lipids and blood glucose if the patient has hyperlipidemia or diabetes.
