Dietary principles for nephrotic syndrome

The dietary principles of nephrotic syndrome include the following: 1. Low salt and low fat diet. Low salt refers to strict control of sodium intake, preferably less than 5g in 24 hours. with hypertension, sodium intake is best controlled at 2-3g/day. Low fat refers to less oil and low cholesterol diet.2. Moderate protein supplementation. In nephrotic syndrome hypoproteinemia, the protein intake is 1.0-1.5g/kg per day for those with normal kidney function, preferably with high quality protein such as milk, eggs and lean meat, which are easily digested and absorbed.3. Patients with edema strictly control water intake.4. Avoid cold, spicy and stimulating foods.
