Intervertebral disc vacuum degeneration, a descriptive imaging language. During a lumbar MRI or lumbar CT, the imaging physician will give a series of descriptive language such as disc vacuum degeneration, depending on the situation. This condition usually indicates that the lumbar disc, or cervical disc, has begun to show degenerative changes. The nucleus pulposus within the disc has begun to lose a significant amount of water and may have been locally encroached upon by fatty tissue or other tissues, and will exhibit vacuum-like changes or degenerative lesions, sometimes referred to as Hirschsprung’s nodules. In the above case, see if the patient has clinical symptoms, such as back pain or radiating pain in one lower extremity. If there are no clinical symptoms, no medication is needed, just strengthen the functional exercise of the low back muscle in general. If there are clinical symptoms, medication may be required if necessary, mainly non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs, together with symptomatic treatment with dehydration and anti-swelling drugs.
