The prostate is the largest gland in men and plays an important role in male physiological function. There are three main types of diseases that occur in the prostate gland, including prostatitis, prostate enlargement and prostate cancer. The first two are common and easily confused diseases for Chinese people, but there is a fundamental difference between the two. The first two are common and easily confused by people in China, but they are essentially different. The clinical manifestation in prostatitis (mainly chronic prostatitis) is dominated by discomfort in urination and lower perineal abdominal discomfort; prostatic hyperplasia is dominated by high frequency of nocturnal urination and progressive difficulty in urination. The volume of the prostatitis can be reduced after treatment; while the volume of the prostate enlargement medication generally does not return to its original state. The treatment of prostatitis does not require surgery, while prostate enlargement treatment can be observed and waited for, can be medicated, if medication is not effective can also be surgically removed from the prostate. The current gold standard for surgical treatment of prostate enlargement is transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). The development of lasers has also opened up new methods of surgical treatment for prostate enlargement and has been adopted clinically in recent years. It has been adopted by more and more hospitals because of its advantages such as less damage, minimal bleeding, satisfactory results and quick recovery from surgery.
