Ginseng is a common qi tonic Chinese medicine, which can also be used in spring when used to treat indications such as qi deficiency. Besides tonifying qi, ginseng also has the effects of generating fluid and nourishing blood (replenishing water and blood in the body), tranquilizing the mind and promoting intellectual development. It is often used in treating qi deficiency-induced spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating when there is a slight movement) and lack of mental ability; and it can be used in treating fever-induced heat and thirst caused by the injury of qi and fluid and in dryness of the mouth and tongue. Note that ginseng should not be used together with quinoa and wulingzhi. The contraindication of ginseng has nothing to do with the season, patients can use ginseng reasonably under the guidance of physician’s diagnosis.
