The novel coronavirus can be contracted through the eyes, so health care workers in close contact with infected persons are required to wear goggles. If droplets containing the virus come into contact with the eye mucosa, the virus will enter the body through the mucosa. The typical symptoms of novel coronavirus pneumonia are fever, dry cough, and malaise; some infected individuals have no symptoms and have only ocular inflammation. If an individual is a close contact of a confirmed or suspected case, he or she should seek immediate medical attention after becoming unwell and the diagnosis can be confirmed only after combining clinical diagnosis.
