How to stop oral antiviral therapy

For HBeAg-positive patients, HBeAg serologic conversion (usually major triplet to minor triplet) and undetectable HBVDNA for more than 12 months can be considered discontinuation; for HBeAg-negative patients, if HBsAg is still positive, it is uncertain when to discontinue the drug, after treatment lasts at least 2 years and more than 3 tests at intervals of more than 6 months HBVDNA are negative, can be considered to discontinue the drug, but the risk of relapse after discontinuation is still high; for patients with good compliance with the initial treatment within 3 months of the start of treatment failure or 6 months of HBVDNA reduction is not obvious, if already applied lamivudine, tebivudine or adefovir treatment, can be changed to stronger or add drug treatment without cross-resistance.
