What should I do if I have puborectalis syndrome?

  Puborectalis syndrome is a fecal disorder characterized by spastic hypertrophy of the puborectalis muscle, resulting in obstruction at the pelvic floor outlet. The histological changes are hypertrophy of the puborectalis muscle fibers.  Patients have a history of prolonged difficulty in defecation, repeated heavy application of laxatives and multiple anorectal surgeries due to the narrowing of the upper end of the anal canal caused by the hypertrophy of the puborectalis muscle fibers. In recent years, some new insights into the treatment of this syndrome have been gained through further research. It is believed that the treatment of this syndrome should be carefully selected according to the degree of lesion in order to improve the efficacy.  Non-surgical treatment 1.Anal dilatation therapy: after routine disinfection and anesthesia, finger method of anal dilatation, dilatation to accommodate 4 fingers, dilatation time of about 5 minutes, once a week.  2.Medication: laxative drug retention enema; can take multifiberin, etc.; Chinese medicine fumigation anal.  3.Other: biofeedback therapy and massage method can be used.  Surgical treatment Most of the methods of partial severance of the puborectal muscle are used, which helps to release the narrowing of the anal canal, thus relieving the difficulty of defecation.
