Benign tremor (ET), also known as idiopathic tremor, is the most common type of tremor in the elderly. Postural or motor tremor is the only manifestation, often slowly progressing or not progressing for a long time, and in a few cases it can develop into Parkinson’s disease or tremor that severely affects daily life, such as: holding objects, eating, and especially when fine tasks need to be done. As a result, treatment is divided into medication and surgery. Today, we would like to share with you the principles and common methods of treatment for benign tremor. (1) Tremor does not affect life and does not require treatment; (2) Mildly affects life, and if needed for work or social interaction, medication can be taken one hour beforehand to intermittently reduce symptoms; (3) Moderate to severe tremor that affects daily life and work requires regular medication; (4) Surgery can be considered for medication-refractory patients with severe cases; (5) Patients with head or voice tremor can be treated with A (5) Patients with head or voice tremor can be treated with A-type botulinum toxin injection. Second, the choice of drug treatment: the current general treatment of ET drugs are divided into first-line, second-line and third-line drugs. The first-line drugs are propranolol, arolol, and paromidone; the second-line drugs are gabapentin, topiramate, alprazolam, atenolol, and clonazepam; the third-line drugs are clozapine, nimodipine, and type A botulinum toxin. Propranolol, apropranolol and paromidone are the preferred initial medications for ET, usually starting with a small dose and gradually increasing, and can be combined when monotherapy is ineffective; multi-point intramuscular injections of botulinum toxin type A may be effective in patients with head or voice tremor. Third, surgical treatment: Applicable to patients with severe symptoms and drug-refractory. Fourth, rehabilitation: There is a latest report of a Ruijian anti-shaking spoon mainly for people with hand tremor, which really solves people’s difficulties in life and helps them to live better. The biggest feature is that through the high-speed servo control system at the handle end, it provides active anti-shaking function to offset the hand tremor so that the food is stable in the spoon. It automatically turns on when the handle is picked up and enters sleep mode when it is put down, which is very user-friendly. Using cloud-based management, which automatically updates the built-in software to better match the patient’s shaking trajectory to improve the anti-shaking performance. Some patients with hand tremors that affect their lives mainly can try.
