What’s wrong with high white blood cells and lymphocytes?

Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell, and an elevated lymphocyte count can cause an elevated white blood cell count.

White blood cells include neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes, and monocytes, etc. The white blood cell count is the sum of these types of cells, so an increase in lymphocytes increases the white blood cell count.

Common causes of increased lymphocyte count include infectious diseases, mainly viral infections; recovery from acute infectious diseases; and hematologic diseases such as lymphocytic leukemia and lymphoma. The exact etiology needs to be determined in conjunction with symptoms and physical examination.
