The hematoma, which can be large or small, appears as a dark purple hemispherical or oval protrusion on the soft tissue.
For relatively small hematomas, no special treatment is usually required, and they will gradually resolve spontaneously within a week.
For larger hematomas, if the foreign body sensation is obvious and affects speech and eating, it is advisable not to break it on your own, but to go to your local hospital oral mucosa department or oral and maxillofacial surgery department, where you can aspirate the blood with a syringe under sterile conditions, apply topical iodophor or fusidic acid cream temporarily, eat a light diet, take rest, maintain good oral and local hygiene, and wait for it to heal gradually.
In addition, some hematologic diseases such as leukemia and hemophilia may also suddenly present with large blood blisters in the mouth, which are rare but should be seen by a specialist if not excluded after an oral examination.
