Preferred site of myeloma

The favored sites for myeloma are bones containing hematopoietic bone marrow, including the vertebrae, pelvis, ribs, skull, and sternum in descending order of incidence.
Myeloma originates in the hematopoietic tissues of the bone marrow and is a malignant plasma cell disease that commonly affects men over the age of 40. The plasma cells are hyperproliferative and infiltrate the bones and soft tissues. The proliferating plasma cells produce large amounts of M globulin, which destroys bone and causes fractures, as well as anemia, renal impairment and cachexia.
The most common sites of myeloma are bones containing hematopoietic bone marrow, which are vertebrae, pelvis, ribs, skull and sternum in order of incidence. Patients most commonly experience pain in the lumbosacral region, followed by the sternum and ribs. Due to the destruction of bone by myeloma cells, pathological fractures and multiple fractures can be caused.
If patients have the above conditions, it is recommended to go to hematology department of hospital for standardized examination and treatment under the guidance of professional doctors, so that early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment can be carried out. If there is any discomfort, please consult the doctor immediately.
