How to treat atherosclerosis

The treatment of atherosclerosis can include two major categories, one is lifestyle treatment and the other is medical treatment, including drug and surgical treatment. 1.Lifestyle: Lifestyle treatment is the basis of atherosclerosis treatment, including: (1) reasonable diet: reduce the intake of high-salt and high-fat foods, consume less processed foods, control total calories, increase the intake of fresh fruits and vegetables, etc.; (2) moderate exercise: develop the habit of exercise, and adopt the appropriate exercise method depending on the person, place and time, and exercise for at least one hour a day, and at least 3-5 times a week. (3) Quit smoking and limit alcohol, regular rest and rest on time, and keep a comfortable mood. (2) Medical treatment: If the pathological factors of atherosclerosis are present, or if the symptoms of severe ischemia have been caused, medical treatment should be carried out in a timely manner, including: (1) Blood pressure control: including the control of blood pressure within the normal range through lifestyle and drugs to reduce the continuous damage of high blood pressure to the blood vessel wall; (2) Lipid control: if the control of diet and exercise cannot bring the blood lipid down to the normal range, or if atherosclerosis has occurred, the blood pressure should be controlled. (2) Lipid control: If diet and exercise cannot lower blood lipids to the normal range, or if atherosclerosis occurs, lipid-lowering drugs, mainly including statins and fibrates, are needed; (3) Blood glucose control: Once diabetes is diagnosed, most patients need to take drugs for life to control blood glucose and prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular damage caused by atherosclerosis; (4) Anti-ischemia: Atherosclerosis can cause platelet formation and vascular spasm, which aggravate ischemia, and therefore (5) Surgical treatment: If severe narrowing or occlusion of arteries has occurred, surgical treatment such as arterial recanalization, reconstruction or bypass grafting or interventional treatment such as stenting can be performed. The treatment of atherosclerosis is a complex systemic project with a wide variety of drugs. It is necessary to judge the severity of atherosclerosis under the guidance of doctors and carry out targeted treatment, and not to take drugs blindly on your own.
