In recent years, more and more people have become constipated. The causes of constipation are diverse, and the common causes are: 1) diseases of the digestive tract itself, such as tumors and inflammation of the intestinal tract; 2) secondary to other diseases, such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, autoimmune disease, hypokalemia, neurological and muscular pathologies; 3) the most common cause is functional constipation, which is related to the patient’s psychological factors and physiological reflex malfunction of the defecation process. Patients with constipation can only be effectively treated if they undergo proper examination and are diagnosed with a clear pathogenesis. Some patients take laxatives for a long time, which leads to colonic melanosis, aggravates constipation, and increases the risk of colorectal cancer. Therefore, it is recommended that constipation patients should undergo standardized medication, biofeedback therapy, and adjust their lifestyle habits after the cause is clearly identified.
